Forms of treatment
People differ widely: not just in who they are but also in the way in which they cope with problems. Accordingly, every treatment plan is drawn up on the basis of personal abilities, in accordance with the client’s private needs and wishes.
Foundation Centrum ’45 works according to the three-phased model. The first phase focuses on restoring rest and stability, and on regaining control over the complaints. During the second phase the traumatic experiences are worked through providing this is necessary as well as feasible. The third phase targets the ways in which someone gives traumatic experiences and their consequences a place in his (current) life.

Non-verbal therapy
Non-verbal therapy covers all forms of treatment that do not have talks as their starting point. One such therapy is art therapy. In this therapy, drawing, painting or modelling is the language with which to show and express one’s experiences and feelings. Showing a piece of work is an important step in sharing one’s own experiences with other people.
You can also work on your problem by focusing on body language, as is done in dance, play and expression. As we do so, we try to restore the relation between feeling, posture and behaviour. An example would be psychomotor therapy: an experience-orientated therapy. By means of movement and exercises geared towards experiencing your body you can work towards several treatment objectives.
Music therapy through sensory perceptions allows one to have contact, to contact one’s own emotions and to contact others. Musical play moves people emotionally, addressing the expression of these emotions. In many cultures, expressing oneself through music is a very matter-of-fact as well as – mostly – a social happening. Music therapy can help people express their emotions. Music therapy can also help build bridges between very different people from widely varying cultures.

Sociotherapy
Sociotherapy addresses the therapeutic group climate in which you work towards your treatment objectives. As we focus on the here-and-now and on the daily contact with others, opportunities are created for learning social skills from as well as with each other.

Treatment involving medication
It may sometimes prove beneficial or necessary to treat people with psychotrauma complaints with specific medication, for instance against depressions, sleeping problems or fears. This is usually done in order to treat symptoms and is commonly done in conjunction with other forms of treatment.
