TOPGGz - Accredited TOP Mental Healthcare Institute
On Monday, 22 June Foundation Centrum ’45 was awarded the quality mark 'Accredited TOP Mental Healthcare Institute' in Amersfoort ['TOPGGz']. This makes Foundation Centrum ’45 the only institution in the Netherlands that in its entirety has been awarded this quality mark. Being accredited a TOP Mental Healthcare Institute, Foundation Centrum ’45 now ranks with 7 other institutions that have so far received this quality mark for one or more departments.
In its recommendation the visiting committee stated the following: The committee has reached the conclusion that both Oegstgeest and Diemen have effectively developed and safeguarded first-rate clinical functions. The committee concludes that both Diemen and Oegstgeest have shown themselves to be very active as regards (doctoral) research as well as the propagation of knowledge and expertise and have most committed, enthusiastic and expert professionals on their staff.
The visiting committee draws the conclusion that both locations of Centrum ’45 amply meet all criteria. The committee considers the two locations to be one integrated department.
The quality mark 'Accredited TOP Mental Healthcare Institute' confirms Foundation Centrum ’45 in its belief that it has been putting its care and treatment, its transfer of knowledge and academic research in the broad field of psychotraumatology to good use. The quality mark goes to demonstrate that the care offered to people with complex psychotrauma complaints satisfies stringent criteria, and that it is thus acknowledged to be first-rate care. The quality mark 'Accredited TOP Mental Healthcare Institute' is assuredly also a token of appreciation and recognition of the commitment shown by the employees of Foundation Centrum ’45.
Foundation Centrum ’45 introduces Narrative Exposure Therapy
As a national institution, Foundation Centrum ’45 offers specialist diagnostics and treatment to clients suffering from psychotrauma complaints resulting from persecution, war and violence. Because of the great numbers of traumatized refugees that are being treated at Centrum ’45 it was decided in 2007 to introduce Narrative Exposure Therapy. In 2007 training was provided to therapists in this field while in December 2008 Centrum ’45 again organised training in this subject.
