Through their representatives in the Patient Council patients of ARQ Centrum’45 can contribute actively to the policy-making and to the policy implementation in actual practice.
The rights of the Patient Council are defined in the Wet Medezeggenschap Cliënten Zorginstellingen [Client Participation Care Institutions Act (WMCZ)] and are recorded in the Partnership Agreement between the Patient Council and ARQ Centrum’45. Participation concerns in particular the general policy in matters of admittance, treatment and dismissal, policies on quality standards and the way in which complaints are dealt with. The Patient Council is the link between patients and the Board of Directors of ARQ Centrum’45 in general matters. The Patient Council does not mediate in matters of individual patients but will show to them the correct procedures to be followed.
In order to function properly, it is not only necessary to have information 'from above'; for signals from the workplace are also necessary: from the patients for whom the Patient Council was set up. That is why the Patient Council aimes at a representative reflection of the various locations and units.
