Traumatic Grief

Traumatic grief often is a part of complex psychotrauma complaints.

Characteristics of traumatic grief

People may be confronted with a traumatic loss, such as an unexpected or violent loss of one or more loved ones through war, a crime or other violent situations. As a result, someone can develop (serious) complaints.

The term traumatic grief represents a mix of both depressive and post-traumatic stress and complicated grief symptoms following the loss of a loved one under violent circumstances.

ARQ Centrum45 offers specialized treatment for people with severe traumatic grief complaints. These people have been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder or depression, the reason for the complaints and the nature of the complaints being characterized by traumatic grief.

Treatment design

The aim of the treatment is to reduce the psychological complaints as a result of the traumatic grief.

The individual treatment, Brief Eclectic Psychotherapy for Traumatic Grief (BEP-TG), has been developed for this. A separate folder is available about the BEP-TG.

We also offer an outpatient and day treatment for traumatic grief.
